Oreos Go Dark-Knight In This Batman-Themed Ad

Superhero-based content is on the rise more than ever. Due to the success of the two giants, Marvel and DC, brands big and small are always looking to incorporate superhero elements in their promotions. Oreo hit the chord just right when they chose to feature the Dark Knight, a grim celebration of the war against crime, as the centrepiece to their new commercial.

The idea works even better because Oreos are typically black and white. This really resembles the dark world of Batman. On the other hand, they also incorporated elements from the famous Batman villain, The Riddler. Clearly, the ad is meant to also promote the upcoming Batman film by director Matt Reeves and actors Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz.

This visual and conceptual brilliance was a combination of the works of Saatchi & Saatchi Düsseldorf and MediaMonks. The ad cleverly uses the black and white theme of Oreos to paint Batman-related iconography, scenes from the upcoming movie, as well as the logo. They are calling it the ‘meeting of two icons’, and truly, it can not be more iconic!

Additionally, the brand has also released a small web-game feature whereby users can solve riddles and find clues for Batman. The Batmania around the world is on a high tide since actor Ben Affleck recently stepped down from the role. It will now be helmed by Robert Pattinson, and this beautifully crafted 40-second long ad is getting people pumped.

Superhero blockbusters have given rise to many such ads; however, this one really stands apart. These characters are timeless icons and it’s always refreshing to see someone use them smartly and bring out the best of visualisations.
