To Revive Thailand’s Mom-And-Pop Shops, TD Tawandang Uses Google Cloud And Tangerine

TD Tawandang has joined with Google Cloud and Tangerine to safeguard mom-and-pop shops from increasing convenience store chains. TD Tawandang is working with Google Cloud and Tangerine to democratise analytics and AI for Thai small businesses.

Following a time of fast expansion of convenience store chains across the country, the Bangkok-based corporation is leveraging modern technologies to help strengthen economic endeavours. Because of economies of scale, convenience store chains have decreased prices, harming the MSME sector and reducing revenue during the pandemic. TD Tawandang responds with a profit-sharing relationship, a new look, and access to its unified TD Retail Platform.

In addition to its original name, each recreated business has a ‘Tookdee’ logo constructed on Google Cloud’s infrastructure. According to April Srivikorn, Google Cloud’s Thailand national manager, TD Tawandang helps mom-and-pop enterprises protect and expand and creates new business prospects for independent, local packaged food brands and jobs in grassroots areas.

Srivikorn said TD Tawandang could “empower groups with untapped economic potential” using the cloud, analytics, and AI technologies. Thailand plans this year’s Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation and leads regional dialogues on MSME revival. Srivikon stated they are pleased to support TD Tawandang’s retail operations and innovations in other Southeast Asian locations.

TD Tawandang has deployed Dataplex to ease data flows between POS systems and a centralised, cloud-based ERP system in conjunction with Tangerine, a dedicated Google Cloud partner based in Bangkok. The goal is to provide “real-time visibility” into retail and business earnings and inventory.

TD Tawandang uses Vertex AI from Google Cloud to help its retail distribution teams forecast demand and schedule deliveries for “just-in-time” stock restocking. TD Tawandang provides portable devices enabling store owners to get delivery information and push notifications.

A lot of backend procedures enable the frontend simplicity of TD Tawandang’s applications for micro-retailers, according to CTO Ruud Akarapanitsakul. TD Retail Platform must efficiently organise and process terabytes of data every day to give the benefits intended for store owners, they noted.

To improve user experience levels across cloud-connected applications, TD Tawandang is embracing Google Cloud’s lightweight application development, server less computing, and low-latency data storage and retrieval capabilities.

Mobile POS software and communications services on portable devices allow apps to work offline, reducing retail disruptions. Tientham Setthasit, executive director of TD Tawandang, claimed that mom-and-pop stores have long served their communities and valued their customers. Still, many have recently struggled to make ends meet.

Setthasit noted that those who lost work owing to the virus are returning home and starting small businesses to augment their income. TD was formed to help these entrepreneurs grow and prosper when the economy improves. Setthasit says its integrated platform has enabled over 4,000 micro-retailers to increase their daily earnings during the previous three years while keeping complete control and 85% of profits. He added that the company would remain working with Google Cloud to expand reliably, develop the platform, and introduce new value-added services.
