Google has attempted a second try with Google Glasses and the new venture seems to be successful, with conversations being translated in real-time. Also, there are no cameras visible on its peripheries, which gives full marks to its designers.
The second attempt comes a decade after the launch of the bulky Google glasses. It had received low ratings as far as design was concerned. However, the new glasses seem to look like standard glasses which are adept at running translations.
The new Google Augmented Reality glasses were one of the many new products unveiled by Google at its annual Google I/O conference for developers. It has an ambitious aim of bridging the gap between the real world and Google’s digital universe of Maps, search as well as other services using artificial intelligence.
Google also launched a teaser of a tablet that will be launched next year as it polishes a strategy to rival Apple-made products. However, Google’s share of the hardware market is abysmally small, at 1%. The new glasses launch aptly reflects Google’s concern amidst bigger scrutiny in Big Tech.
Google at the developer’s meeting showed just a video of the prototype glasses which were proficient in translating conversations between Mandarin, English, American Sign Language, as well as Spanish. Google has not said anything about the launch date of the new glasses. Neither has it said anything about the presence or absence of cameras onboard the glasses.
