Airwallex To Offer Virtual Debit Card In Singapore In Partnership With Visa

Airwallex, a fintech company based in Hong Kong that has built an expenditure management system in Singapore and a virtual multi-currency Visa business debit card, has launched in the city-state.

According to Airwallex, organisations in Singapore can use the new Borderless Card service to make online card payments to other countries worldwide, including those in the United States. The foreign exchange rates set by the company shall be utilised for all transactions involving the service.

The statement comes after the firm made its maiden foray into the city-state earlier this year, many months after the announcement. Previously, Airwallex and Visa provided an equivalent option in Australia, Hong Kong, Europe, and the United States, among other places.

Eventually, the fintech business hopes to integrate physical cards and digital wallets into its system in the future. Jack Zhang and Max Li founded Airwallex in the year 2015. Since then, the company has raised over US$800 million, valuing it at approximately US$5.5 billion. It employs more than 1,000 individuals at 19 locations throughout the world, and it serves customers in Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific markets.
