Elon Musk Polls To Convert Twitter HQ To A Homeless Shelter; Bezos Agrees

Two of the richest people (Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos) in the world are sharing their thoughts on ideas for tackling homelessness. It was suggested that Twitter’s headquarters be converted into a shelter home.

Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, on Sunday, showed his support for the idea of converting the San Francisco headquarters of the social networking firm by tweeting back. The reason for this idea, given by Musk, was that the headquarters was vacant due to few people working from there during the times of the pandemic.

Bezos tweeted GeekWire, a technology-focused blog, and referred to an article from May 2020, where Amazon’s eight floored homeless family shelter was attached to the Seattle headquarters. Bezos wrote in his tweet that that particular initiative had worked out just fine, and that had also made it easy for the employees who wanted to volunteer.

Bezos also recommended transforming a portion at least of Twitter’s headquarters, not the entire place, into a shelter for the homeless. Musk replied in another tweet by agreeing to the idea pitched by Bezos and said, “Great idea.”

Musk had started a poll, asking the users to vote whether the building should be transformed into a shelter home or not. The poll got more than a million votes within the day, with 90% plus people voting for yes.

The CEO of Tesla and founder of The Boring Company, who is known to leave his followers confused about whether he is joking, clarified this time and tweeted on Sunday that he was serious about this idea.
